Has pain research addressed the consequences of COVID?
COVID impacts the entire population and strongly affects people with pain. The QPRN has supported research projects related to COVID. You can find a description on our website in this publication.
Two videos are also available on our YouTube channel. The first, presented by Nabiha Benyamina Douma, deals with the epidemiology of musculoskeletal disorders among prosthetic orthotists in Quebec and the second, presented by Gabrielle Pagé, deals with the impact of stress related to the COVID-19 on persistent low back pain and patient trajectories. Gabrielle Pagé’s video presents ongoing research conducted in collaboration with a QPRN initiative: The Quebec Back Pain Consortium.
You can also find a popularized publication about a pan-Canadian study by Gabrielle Pagé on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic among people living with pain.
Research is still ongoing, including a new study that is evaluating the long-term complications of COVID-19. Also, several ministers have jointly announced the implementation of a service offering to treat people with persistent symptoms of COVID-19, commonly referred to as long COVID.
