Biography
As a PhD student, Maxime investigates the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying how psychomotor tasks feel effortful when physical and/or mental demand is increased. The currently dominating theory dictates that the perception of effort reflects the magnitude of the central motor command. As this theory is heavily biased towards tasks with high physical loads, Maxime is hoping to refine this model by describing cross-talk between the physical and mental aspects of psychomotor tasks. Maxime is also involved in other research projects involving different fields (chronic pain, experimental pain, and motor control).
