Biography

Jason Bouffard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Université Laval and a researcher at Cirris. After completing his training as an occupational therapist, he pursued graduate and postdoctoral studies at Université Laval, Université de Montréal, and McGill University. His research aims to understand the facilitators and barriers to motor performance in the context of meaningful activities for people living with or without disabilities. He is particularly interested in the know how required to harness technologies, including assistive devices and feedback systems, to support physical activity and social participation. His mechanistic research also seeks to understand the effects of personal barriers, such as fatigue and pain, on the sensorimotor system.

What is the part of your daily life in the lab/office that you enjoy the most?
What I appreciate most about my work is helping students develop their ability to explore the questions that fascinate them and solve complex problems. This involves both helping them develop critical thinking skills when reading scientific articles and helping them build technical skills that enable them to push the boundaries of what they thought was possible, particularly through the use of motion analysis technologies.
