Biography

After training in kinesiology in France and Great Britain, Benjamin Pageaux continued his research on fatigue and the perception of exertion as a postdoctoral researcher in the U1093 laboratory of the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Dijon, FR). Since 2018, he has been a professor at the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences (EKSAP) at the University of Montreal, and a researcher at the Research Center of the Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM).

His multidisciplinary career has enabled him to acquire knowledge in the neurophysiology of exercise and movement, which he now integrates into the theories and experimental techniques of motivational psychology, neuropsychology and psychophysics. The main objective of his research program is to understand the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms of the perception of exertion, in order to improve health and performance. He is particularly interested in the interplay between pain, effort and performance. His research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada, the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ).
