Biography
Arlette Kolta is a full professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Montreal. She is also an accredited member of the physiology department of the same institution. She has a background in neurological sciences and her work, of a fundamental nature, uses electrophysiological, neuroanatomical and behavioral approaches to assess the role of proprioceptive muscle afferents in the development of persistent muscle pain. She is currently working to develop a model of orofacial muscle pain. She is also interested in the cellular circuits and mechanisms involved in the genesis of the rhythmic motor pattern of chewing as well as the role of neuron-glia interactions in this process.
