Biography
Alexandra Breton-Piette is a PhD candidate at the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Nursing. She holds an MSc in Nursing Sciences from the University of Montreal, where her thesis focused on the current state of scientific literature on prolonged pain in premature neonates. With over six years of experience as a nurse clinician in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Alexandra’s clinical background inspired her pursuit of higher education to reduce prolonged pain in premature infants and
promote optimal pain management. Supervised by Dr. Marilyn Aita, her PhD research aims to describe longitudinal prolonged pain trajectories in premature neonates hospitalized in the NICU undergoing mechanical ventilation. Alexandra is interested in optimizing prolonged pain evaluation using brain-based technologies and developing and validating instruments for standardized prolonged pain assessment.
