International French-speaking symposium on pain research

Associate members:

Uniting French-speaking research to better understand and treat pain: a review of a major scientific symposium.

The third International Francophone Symposium on Pain Research was successfully held in Quebec City, bringing together researchers from a wide range of French-speaking backgrounds. Organized by the Alan Edwards Centre for Pain Research (McGill University), in partnership with the Université Clermont-Auvergne and the Quebec Pain Research Network (QPRN), the event aims to foster international collaborations, student exchanges and co-supervision of doctoral students.

The 2024 edition, hosted by Université Laval’s Centre CERVO, was supported by Professor Yves de Koninck and the QPRN. The French Consulate in Quebec City, a key partner, contributed financially and facilitated the participation of a young French researcher.

Initiated in 2022, the symposium strengthens French-speaking research and paves the way for promising collaborations. Its success testifies to the commitment of Quebec and international institutions to the development of pain research.
