A unique feline arthritis pain scale has been scientifically validated.
The Groupe de recherche en pharmacologie animale du Québec (GREPAQ) has been working on the development of a feline arthrosic pain scale for the past 12 years. Validation of this scale was a team effort involving 150 cats, 11 GREPAQ members, 5 external experts, 9 graduate students (Masters, Doctorate, Postdoctorate) and 6 students. The tool is non-invasive, inexpensive, reliable and fast, facilitating reliable pain diagnosis and individualized management. An artificial intelligence algorithm is currently being developed to facilitate the introduction of this tool in clinical settings.
