Biography
Dr Éric Troncy obtained his State Veterinary Doctorate from the Claude-Bernard University of Lyon in France (1992). He then completed a master's degree (1994), a residency in veterinary anesthesiology and algology (1998) and a PhD at the University of Montreal (1999) as well as a University Doctorate in Pharmacology-Pharmacochemistry at Louis-Pasteur University of Strasbourg, France (2000). He is a regular researcher affiliated with the research centre of the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) - osteoarthritis research unit, in addition to being a full professor in the veterinary biomedicine department of the Faculty of veterinary medicine as well as a professor associated with the Department of Anesthesiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal.
He was elected "Veterinarian of the year 2001" in France for his efforts to promote the management of pain in companion animals, elevated to the rank of "Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole" of the French Republic in 2009 for his work against pain and his efforts to bring France and Quebec closer together, “Researcher of the year 2010 and 2018” and “Supervisor of graduate students of the year 2013” at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
