Agir pour moi is a self-management program for chronic pain designed to be taken without the support of a health care professional. The lessons are spread over eight weeks and cover different strategies to help you manage your pain on a daily basis.
Agir pour moi is a free, online program created to help people understand what chronic pain is and to provide them with strategies to better cope with it. The program encourages stress, emotional and energy management strategies, as well as sleep, eating and physical activity habits that help people cope with chronic pain on a daily basis. It is designed to be completed independently in 2 months, 60 to 90 minutes per week, and is designed to provide strategies that can be integrated into lifestyle habits.
The Agir pour moi program was developed by a team from Université Laval and external partners. Anne Marie Pinard, who is responsible for this project, is a professor in the Faculty of Medicine, a physician at the Centre d’expertise en gestion de la douleur chronique (CHU) in Quebec City, and the holder of the Chaire de leadership en enseignement en douleur chronique-Medisca at Université Laval. The content of the program is based on the doctoral work of Pascale Marier-Deschênes, who conducted a review of scientific articles on proven effective interventions for chronic pain and drew on the clinical experience of health professionals who care for people living with chronic pain.
