A person living with fibromyalgia must manage several symptoms such as pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances. These symptoms greatly affect the ability to carry out daily activities such as eating, working and even resting! Some people are able to maintain a satisfying life and continue to pursue their occupations; in this case, we speak of occupational adaptation. However, some people may not be able to do this. Why? There are several personal, environmental and occupational components that make a person less adaptable to his condition. The evaluation and pooling of studies on the daily life of people with fibromyalgia has helped to better understand this phenomenon. First, the support of loved ones is extremely important to adapt and not all people with fibromyalgia benefit from it. Second, a redefinition of identity is often necessary following the loss of a meaningful occupation such as work. Finally, maintaining a routine and integrating strategies to better manage pain and time are part of the ways to promote occupational adjustment.pationnelle.
