Stress, persistent pain and pandemic

Associate members:

It is an understatement to say that the COVID-19 pandemic is increasing, to varying degrees, the stress that one can feel. But for people who experience persistent pain – one in five across the country – increased stress can increase pain and decrease quality of life.

Also, three ongoing research projects on stress and the evolution of persistent pain, to which Gabrielle Pagé, from University of Montreal (UdeM) is contributing, have been updated to take into account the effect of the coronavirus crisis on individuals experiencing this type of pain.

The professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at UdeM is interested in the psychology of pain. Researcher at the Research Center of the University of Montreal Hospital Center, she is also a clinical psychologist specializing in persistent pain. (Source: udemnouvelles, in french)
