Why is the wait so long in pain clinics?

The Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS), based on the findings of the Agence d’évaluation des technologies et des modes d’intervention en santé (AETMIS), found that services for Quebec patients with chronic pain are fragmented, with long wait times at all levels of the care system. The few multidisciplinary pain clinics in Quebec do not have sufficient resources to provide care that is consistent with evidence-based approaches. However, recent actions by the Canadian government with the Canadian Pain Task Force offer hope for future improvement, especially with the action plan for pain in Canada to come
