My wife took one of the back pain consortium questionnaires. It was asked for her health insurance card number. Is this normal?
The back pain consortium is an initiative launched by the QPRN. Rest assured, the research team is looking at treatments for low back pain to determine which treatments have the best chance of being successful. This is why the insurance card number is requested. The data used is extremely well protected, completely confidential and gives remarkable significance to the conclusions of this research project. Keep in mind, however, that giving your number is not mandatory and your experience in the research project will not be affected if you decide not to share it.
