WORKSHOP 1: INTRODUCTION TO QUEBEC ADMINISTRATIVE DATA USED FOR RESEARCH
This workshop will help you understand the different databases, their key variables, and their strengths and limitations. Examples of scientific publications will also be shared to illustrate the practical application of this data.
Objectives:
- Understand the administrative databases available in CADRISQ;
- Identify key variables;
- Evaluate the advantages and limitations of administrative data for research
- Explore concrete examples of scientific publications based on this data.
Prerequisites: Open to everyone! Please note that the workshop is available in French only.
WORKSHOP 2 : QUEBEC ADMINISTRATIVE DATA MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS
This hands-on workshop guides you through techniques for managing and analyzing Quebec administrative data, introducing you to variables generation, file merging, and cross-database management using realistic synthetic databases.
After attending the workshop, you will receive a kit containing a copy of the synthetic databases, as well as examples of SAS programming for practical application of concepts to facilitate your research work in CADRISQ.
Objectives:
- Acquire the tools for effective management and analysis of Quebec administrative databases.
- Learn how to manage, merge, and manipulate Quebec administrative data in a learning environment similar to that of real data.
- Become acquainted with the free training kit provided to each participant.
Prerequisites: Basic programming experience (SAS, R, Stata, SPSS, etc.) is recommended to get the most out of the workshop. Please note that the workshop is only available in French.
INSTRUCTOR

Marc Dorais holds a master’s degree in statistics, has over 20 years of experience working with administrative data. Founder of StatsSciences Inc., he has been working as a biostatistician consultant for 15 years. His recognized experience has led him to participate in new research projects and regularly give training courses on the use of administrative data.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Being affiliated with a Quebec university and conducting research in a field related to pain;
- Being supervised by a regular member of the Quebec Pain Research Network;
- Being an active member of the Quebec Network of Junior Pain Investigators (QNJPI) prior to the competition’s opening.
