Biography

Dr. Christian Longtin is a physiotherapist and assistant professor at the School of Rehabilitation of the Université de Sherbrooke, where he is a researcher at the Center for Action in Work Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (CAPRIT). After completing a professional master's degree in physiotherapy (2016), he practiced for over ten years with people living with chronic pain. Alongside his clinical practice, he completed a research master's degree (2019) and a Ph.D. (2023) at the Université de Sherbrooke, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University (2026). His research program aims to support the adoption of best practices in rehabilitation to improve the management of pain and work disability. Working at the intersection of pain and work participation, he draws on integrated knowledge mobilization approaches, particularly among physiotherapists. He is also interested in the role of self-management as a lever to help workers return to and remain at work.

What's the most beautiful destination you've ever been to at a conference?
The most beautiful destination I’ve ever had the chance to visit for a conference is undoubtedly Davos, Switzerland, during a symposium on lower back and neck pain. Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, amid breathtaking scenery, we were able to enjoy many attractions. The program even included a hike during which I presented my research, with the Alps as a backdrop, before wrapping up with a delicious cheese fondue. That moment will remain etched in my memory. It just goes to show that combining science and pleasure is entirely possible!
