Biography

Tomoko Ohyama is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and a principal investigator in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University. After pursuing graduate studies at the Baylor College of Medicine, where she focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic vesicle cycling in Drosophila, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Janelia Research Campus, she used Drosophila larvae to investigate the neural circuit mechanisms underlying action selection. The goal of her work is to better understand how the nervous system integrates sensory (including pain-related) information in the process of selecting situationally appropriate behaviors.
