Biography

Pascale Marier-Deschênes holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the Université de Montréal. Her interest in knowledge mobilization and patient-oriented research shaped the focus of her master’s and doctoral studies in clinical and biomedical sciences at Université Laval. During her doctoral studies, she spearheaded the co-development of the online chronic pain self-management program Agir pour moi. Launched in November 2022 on the Gérer ma douleur platform, this program guides participants in applying self-management strategies without requiring direct intervention from a healthcare professional. Now an assistant professor at Université Laval and a researcher at CIRRIS, Pascale focuses on the co-development and evaluation of online resources supporting Canadian veterans living with chronic pain, in partnership with their families and healthcare professionals.

What inspires you most in your colleagues?
What inspires me most about my colleagues is their collaborative approach to innovative, interdisciplinary and patient-focused research. Their openness and ability to think outside the box is truly motivating. I am particularly touched by our shared willingness to celebrate each other’s accomplishments. These people firmly believe in the value of projects and people, and they demonstrate it not only through their words but also through their actions. Dedicating their time to valuing and supporting others, they contribute to the progress of our community as a whole.
