Biography

Michel Perreault, PhD, is a research psychologist at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University. He is also a regular researcher with the Institut universitaire sur les dépendances, the Réseau québécois de recherche sur la douleur and the Groupe de recherche et d'intervention sur les substances psychoactives - Québec. He is an affiliated professor at the Université de Sherbrooke and the Université du Québec à Montréal.
His research, teaching and training activities focus on the intersection between mental disorders and substance use disorders, notably opioid use disorder in various contexts, including chronic pain. His work involves evaluating programs that put forward the perspectives and initiatives of people in recovery and their loved ones. Since 2002, he has piloted a cross-training program for caregivers from different service networks. He also conducts projects on work-life balance, particularly among loved ones, and associated stress. Finally, he is exploring the use of digital technologies in mental health.
