Biography

I completed my graduate studies in physiology at Université de Sherbrooke under the supervision of Drs. Sylvain Grignon and Philippe Sarret. My thesis focused on the impact of prenatal inflammation on the emergence of psychotic-like and depressivelike behaviors in mice. I then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California San Diego and the Veterans Affairs San Diego Medical Center under the supervision of Dr. Victoria Risbrough. Through preclinical and clinical studies, I contributed to advancing our understanding of how inflammatory response following psychological trauma influence the development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Since January 2020, I am a researcher within the Neurosciences program of the CRCHU de Québec-Université Laval, and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Université Laval.

What are your hopes for your field of research?
I believe that an innovative approach is needed for mental health and chronic pain: developing personalized treatments tailored to each individual's unique biological characteristics. To achieve this goal, I am committed to working across sectors, because it is by bringing together complementary expertise that we can transform care pathways. My ambition goes beyond treatment: I want to contribute to the prevention of mental health disorders and chronic pain, in order to reduce their impact before they take hold.
