Biography
Hugues Allard-Chamard obtained his diploma in rheumatology and his doctorate in pharmacology at the University of Sherbrooke. The subject of his doctoral thesis focused on the involvement of prostanoids and phospholipases A2 in the biology of osteoclasts. During his residency, he deepened his expertise in the clinical aspect of bone pathologies as well as in the ocular manifestations of rheumatic diseases. In 2016, he joined the laboratory of Dr. Shiv Pillai at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard and studied with interest understanding the triggers of autoimmunity with a particular focus on B-cell epigenetics. His current work focus is on understanding the pathophysiology of IgG4-RD disease and finding biomarkers to predict response to treatments. At the same time, he works to understand the predictive factors of pain in inflammatory arthropathies. He currently is professor-researcher and clinician at the University of Sherbrooke where he leads a research laboratory that studies arthritis as well as the immune response to COVID-19.
