Biography

Dayana Rosa has been a professor in the Physiotherapy Program - Department of Anatomy at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) since July 2025. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Physiotherapy, both obtained at the Universidade Federal de São Carlos, in Brazil. During her doctoral training, she completed a research internship at The Ohio State University and at the College of St. Scholastica, in the United States. She has also completed three postdoctoral fellowships: at the Universidade Federal de São Carlos-Brazil (2020–2021), at Université Laval-Canada (2021–2023), and at the Universidad de Málaga-Spain (2023). Her research interests focus on persistent musculoskeletal pain, human biomechanics, therapeutic exercise, and the biopsychosocial and sociocultural factors influencing the pain experience, with particular attention to underrepresented populations in research, including visible and ethnic minorities. Her work is grounded in an integrative, person centered approach, aiming to improve the assessment, prevention, and management of musculoskeletal pain.

What are your hopes for your field of research?
What really strikes me about my field of research is the fact that visible and ethnic minorities experience more pain while receiving less care. Thus, my hope, through my research program, is to advance our understanding of pain, but above all, to help reduce health inequalities and disparities.
