Biography

Carmen-Édith Belleï-Rodriguez, PhD, is a Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal. A psychoeducator, she holds a PhD in Health Sciences Research from the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed a short postdoctorate in pelvic and perineal pain at the Université de Sherbrooke. She then had the opportunity to become a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pain and Translational Symptom Science, School of Nursing, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her work focuses on understanding acute and chronic pain in pediatrics, non-pharmacological pain management strategies, and improving pediatric pain care. She is particularly interested in the impact of the caregiver-care receiver relationship, modulation of expectations, and the family-centered approach.

What excites you most about your research program or field?
The possibility to make a positive difference in people’s lives, from improving the condition of children living with pain-related challenges, to helping train the next generation of clinicians and researchers.
