Biography

Benoit Cossette, B.Pharm, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Sherbrooke, Research Scholar Junior 2 – Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), researcher at the Research Center on Aging of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS and pharmacist at the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS. His research program aims to promote the optimal use of medication in older adults. His research program focuses on the assessment of the cumulative effect of anticholinergic and sedative medications, and the impact of their deprecription, on physical function measured by wearable sensors. He is the principal investigator of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) for the Université de Sherbrooke site.

What are your hopes for your field of research?
Older adults take a lot of medications. I hope that our research will enable us to better assess the risk/benefit ratio of medications in older adults.
