Biography

Annie Levesque has been living with chronic pain for several years. She has spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a rare congenital disease caused by a genetic mutation. Over the years, several comorbidities have developed, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and lattice-type damage, making pain management both complex and progressive.
Her life journey has led her to develop an understanding of the physical, emotional, and social impacts of chronic pain, as well as the challenges related to care, adaptation, and quality of life.

How does your current work contribute to improve treatment or understanding of pain?
As a patient partner, I want to use my personal experience to contribute to research projects that are human-centered and grounded in the reality of people living with chronic pain. I want to promote better collaboration between patients, clinicians, and researchers. Together, we can contribute to research that is more inclusive, sensitive, and aligned with the real needs of patients.
