A reflection on the “Discovery Café” on pain in Quebec
On June 10, 2026, the Quebec Pain Research Network, in collaboration with Fibromyalgie Laval and the AQDC (Quebec Association for Chronic Pain), organized its very first science café dedicated to pain at the Émile-Nelligan Library in Laval.
In a warm, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere 🤝, we took the time to meet one another, exchange ideas, and, above all, work together to debunk some of the myths surrounding pain.
Throughout the discussions, attendees were able to learn more about:
👉 the pain research ecosystem in Quebec
👉 key concepts in pain and fibromyalgia research
👉 members of the community
This opportunity for dialogue brought together about twenty people from very diverse backgrounds—scientists (Hélène Beaudry and Quintia Lorraina Ndamwumvaneza), students (Bastien Couëpel and Audrey-Anne Cormier), people living with pain and fibromyalgia, loved ones, and family members—all united by a shared desire: to better understand pain and talk about it in a different way.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended for their open-mindedness, curiosity, and the richness of our discussions 💜
We’ll see you very soon for the next QPRN events ☕️✨
