Quebec Consortium on Continuum and Pain Care Trajectories

Associate members:

To federate pain research in Quebec, QPRN has established a research infrastructure model based on a number of consortiums. These consortiums are organized based on specific research proprieties themes identified by our members, partners and people living with chronic pain and are designed to drive innovative research focused on the needs of the Quebec ecosystem.

Objective

The objectives of this multidisciplinary consortium are to study the navigation of people living with chronic pain through the healthcare system, catalyze favorable care trajectories through research progress and foster self-management of persistent pain in the community. The Consortium’s first objective is to develop evidence-based knowledge mobilization tools to foster a continuum and high added-value care trajectories centered on needs. The second objective is to promote timely and equitable service delivery and efficiency to achieve better outcomes for individuals.

Members

Directors : Gabrielle Pagé, researcher at Université de Montréal, Marc-André Blanchette, researcher at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Lesley Norris-Singer, patient partner, Andréanne Bernier and Geneviève Laporte (trainee representatives)
Teams group together people from research and clinical backgrounds as well as any other person with expertise relevant to the work.

Progress

  • January 19, 2024, Mount Sainte-Anne. Launch of the new consortium and large-group discussion meeting that led to a first team project funding. This project focuses on measures to help people living with pain navigate the healthcare system.
  • July 8, 2024. Call for research project opportunities. This initiative led to the funding of two projects on the use of artificial intelligence to support healthcare professionals, and the m aping of pain education and self-management programs in Quebec respectively.
  • October 31, 2024, Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), Montréal. QPRN organized the first in person meeting of this consortium. We were able to take a closer look on the issue of communication between the various people involved in pain management.
