Brain Canada has announced the renewal of a Platform Support Grant (PSG) for the Canadian Optogenetics and Vectorology Foundry (COVF), led by Dr. Yves De Koninck, Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval, Scientific Director of the CERVO Research Centre, and member of the QPRN, as well as Dr. Marie-Eve Paquet, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval, Director of the COVF, and also a QPRN member.

Based at the CERVO Research Centre, the COVF is a key infrastructure for neuroscience research in Canada. Thanks to this major $4.75 million grant, the team will expand its viral vector production capabilities and refine its optogenetic tools, which allow for the precise control of neuronal activity using light. These technologies are central to advancing our understanding of pain pathways and developing next-generation therapeutic interventions.

The QPRN is proud to have contributed to the creation of this molecular tools platform 20 years ago and to have provided continuous support over the years. Yves De Koninck and Marie-Eve Paquet acknowledged and thanked the QPRN for its long-standing support.
