How can we live with chronic pain on a daily basis? A clinician and a patient join voices to share practical strategies, helpful resources, and a message of hope.
Dr. Anne Marie Pinard and Maryann Côté are the featured guests on the Santé sans rendez-vous podcast. Dr. Pinard is an anesthesiologist, Head of the Chronic Pain Service at the CHU de Québec – Université Laval, Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, and a member of the Quebec Pain Research Network (QPRN). Maryann Côté is a patient partner and volunteer lead for the Quebec group of Scleroderma Quebec.
In their thoughtful and clear discussion, they explore key topics such as the definition of chronic pain—now recognized as a disease in its own right—its impact on daily life, self-management strategies and enjoyable non-pharmacological approaches, as well as the social stigma and taboos surrounding invisible pain.
Dr. Pinard also introduces her Chair in Chronic Pain Education, which aims to better equip patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. She highlights accessible resources such as the mypainmanagement.ca portal and the Agir pour moi program.
A powerful episode filled with personal insights, practical advice, and thoughtful reflections—whether you live with chronic pain or want to better understand those who do.
