Jean Sébastien Roy and his team observed a significant improvement in pain levels and the frequency of pain events following their intervention.
Musicians often work in unnatural positions for several hours at a time. This can lead to the onset of pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Jean-Sébastien Roy, from Université Laval’s École des sciences de la réadaptation, the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en réadaptation et intégration sociale and a member of the QPRN, evaluated the effectiveness of an intervention based on an educational component and a physical exercise component with 65 musicians. Jean Sébastien Roy and his team observed a significant improvement in pain levels and the frequency of pain events as a result of their intervention. This encouraging result underlines the importance of specific follow-up with musicians.
