Doggone Foundation Chair of Excellence in Pain for Artur Kania

To accelerate our understanding of diseases and the identification of treatments, the IRCM was born out of the desire to combine fundamental and clinical research in a single equation. Today, the Institute is home to some thirty world-renowned researchers and clinicians who are supported by a team of professionals and students, all committed to their mission. Their work is part of a comprehensive research continuum aimed at improving health.

Artur Kania is the Director of the Neural Circuit Development Research Unit at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM) and a member of the QPRN. Artur Kania and his team have made great strides in understanding the neuronal connections between the spinal cord and the brain. The Doggone Foundation, represented by its chairman, recognises the impact of chronic pain on the quality of life and mental health of people who experience it. It has also recognised and encouraged the importance of Prof. Kania’s work by donating $500,000 to the IRCM Foundation, enabling the creation of the Doggone Foundation Chair of Excellence in Pain. This financial support will help Prof. Kania to continue his research, which could lead to new treatments and a better understanding of the pain process.

Congratulations!
