Junie Carrière supported by the FRQSC for her work on return to work

The Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture is encouraging and financing a research project led by two QPRN members: Junie Carrière and Guillaume Léonard. The objective of their project is to understand the factors that promote or not the return to work after the onset of musculoskeletal disorders and to test a method to positively promote this return.

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders have a strong impact on work disability in Quebec. Workers’ expectations regarding their recovery seem to play an important role in their return to work. The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture is providing $250,000 to Junie Carrière and Guillaume Léonard, both professors in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Sherbrooke and members of the QPRN, who are interested in this research topic. First, they will evaluate the impact of psychological and physiological factors and working conditions on the return to work. They will then evaluate how a brief psychological intervention with workers could positively influence the return to work.

Congratulations !
