Pain management with bibliotherapy

Frédérick Dionne studied the effectiveness of bibilotherapy in 140 adults with chronic pain.

The management of pain by health services is not always rapid and effective. The search for methods that promote self-management of pain is often encouraged. Frédérick Dionne, associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, is interested in one such method, bibliotherapy. This refers to the therapeutic virtues of reading. Prof. Dionne followed people suffering from chronic pain and evaluated the impact of reading a book on the principles of acceptance and commitment therapy in chronic pain management (mindfulness meditation exercises).
