The Canada Research Chairs Program invests up to $311 million annually to attract and retain some of the world's most accomplished and promising minds. Chairholders strive for research excellence in the fields of engineering and natural sciences, health sciences, humanities and social sciences.
The Government of Canada has announced the results of the April 2021 competition for its Research Chairs program. A total of 119 Chairs were awarded or renewed at 35 Canadian research institutions. The Université de Montréal is receiving $10.2 million for the creation of four new Chairs and the renewal of three others. Three of these chairs are also funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leadership Fund (JRLF). The primary objective of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program is to recruit and retain the best researchers in the country. Tier 1 Chairs are awarded to world leaders in their field and are for seven years.
Congratulations to Francis Beaudry, member of the QPRN, for this appointment and this FLJE funding. His CRC is called the Canada Research Chair in metrology of bioactive molecule and target discovery.
