Le Prof. S\u00e9gu\u00e9la est un expert mondial en biologie des canaux ioniques et en pharmacologie mol\u00e9culaire. Son laboratoire de recherche \u00e0 l\u2019Institut et h\u00f4pital neurologiques de Montr\u00e9al (le Neuro) est r\u00e9put\u00e9 pour l\u2019\u00e9tude des g\u00e8nes, des cellules et des circuits impliqu\u00e9s dans la perception de la douleur et l\u2019analg\u00e9sie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le traitement pharmacologique propos\u00e9 par Neurasic cible les canaux ioniques activ\u00e9s par les protons (ASIC), une famille de g\u00e8nes de r\u00e9cepteurs neuronaux qui jouent un r\u00f4le dans de multiples maladies neurologiques. Les premi\u00e8res recherches ont montr\u00e9 que le blocage des ASICs provoque une analg\u00e9sie (incapacit\u00e9 \u00e0 ressentir la douleur) dans les cas de douleur persistante, \u00e9liminant ainsi le recours aux opiac\u00e9s.
