In Canada, according to the Ontario Dental Association, many people experience anxiety when visiting their dentist. In the United States, around 36% of people are afraid of dental treatment, including 12% who are extremely afraid, and around 3% of adults in industrialised countries may suffer from dentophobia and avoid going to the dentist. In addition, it is estimated that between 9% and 20% of adults in the United States avoid going to the dentist because of fear and anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
