Pain Talks - Second Edition

The second edition of the PAIN talks from the QNJPI, which took place at Thomson House, McGill University on April 28, 2017, was a great success!

We heard excellent presentations from our members as well as from our guest speakers (Dr Guillaume Léonard, Dr Jeffrey S. Mogil and Dr Marc O. Martel). We even had the chance to hear touching testimonials from patients suffering from chronic pain.

The best presentation award went to Rebecca Brouillette from Université de Sherbrooke for her presentation entitled: “From Bee Venom to Virtual Reality: A Look at Some Surprising Pain Therapies”. Rebecca was awarded a secured spot at the North America Pain School (NAPS), which will take place from June 25 to 29, 2017 in Montebello, Qc!

The second prize was presented to Isabel Plasencia Fernandez from Université Laval for her presentation: “Painful Dishinibition”. Diana-Luk Ye, from McGill University, received an honorable mention for her talk entitled: “Does kinesiophobia increase after a spinal fusion surgery in pediatrics?”.

The event was used to launch the new logo and new French name of the network. The logo competiton winner was Martine Bordeleau from Université Laval, and the French name of the network, previously “Réseau québécois des jeunes investigateurs de la douleur”, was revised to "Réseau québécois des étudiants-chercheurs sur la douleur" (RQECD).
